Born Kirkcaldy, Scotland, Heather’s first success in writing was winning a short story competition for radio's BBC Children's Hour. Her family moved to Edinburgh when she was in her early teens. She then travelled around the world in her twenties, living and working in New Zealand, before returning and settling in London where she worked on a women's magazine for twenty years. Heather has published four novels (Maturing Sun, 1970; Jenny Robinson 1970; Holiday in Spain; Summer Christmas, 2006), as well as poetry, and articles. Her biography of James Elroy Flecker is her first non-fiction book.
